I wanted to start talking about this hidden bomb by Nile Rodgers, taken form his solo album Adventures In The Land Of The Good Groove (Mirage, US 1983)
Nile is the Man behind the "Chic" and producer of Sisters Sledge (We are family, He's the Greatest Dancer), Diana Ross (Upside Down), Madonna (Like a Vergin Album), Duran Duran (The Reflex), David Bowie (Let's Dance) just to name a few.
- Here he's probably on cocaine with Carly Simon: among his productions I think that this collaboration is another underrated gem:
- Why has Been sampled for my favorite hip hop band of the 90's on the Bonita Applebum single:
- A Tribe Called Quest chose so many good samples among the years, but disco wise I love a remix of their Public Enemy track with a sample of the classic Vaughan Mason & Crew - Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll.
This is the Tribe:
This is Vaughan:
VAUGHAN MASON & CREW - BOUNCE. ROCK, SKATE, ROLL
(Brunswick, 1979 US)
